Treat the playbook as a versioned input
Start with one agreement type and an approved set of clauses, fallbacks, and escalation rules. Record which playbook version produced each recommendation. The agent should point to the contract language behind a flag and distinguish a missing clause from an unfamiliar formulation.
Keep review and approval separate
Drafted redlines are suggestions for counsel. Preserve the original text, proposed change, and reason in the review interface. Material deviations and uncertain classifications need an explicit escalation path. Faster first-pass review does not establish that an agreement is safe to sign.
Test what the agent misses
Build an evaluation set with acceptable language, subtle deviations, missing clauses, and contradictory provisions. Measure missed risks and unnecessary escalations, not just drafting speed. Compare the full cost of assisted review, including human correction, with the current process.
